Fairfax

The City of Fairfax is an enclave within Fairfax County, VA, and is located about 18 miles south-west of downtown Washington, DC. It is home to approximately 24,000 residents, spread across 8,500 households, over a land area of 6.3 square miles. Fairfax residents' public transit needs are served by Vienna station on Washington Metro's Orange Line, as well as multiple Metrobus and CUE routes.

Fairfax was ranked #3 in Forbes Magazine's "Top 25 Places to Live Well" in 2009. Fairfax is home to Virginia International University, an international school, as well as George Mason University (GMU), Virginia's largest public institution, with around 33,000 active students.
