Alexandria is located along the western bank of the Potomac River, about 7 miles south of downtown Washington, DC. It is home to approximately 150,000 residents, spread amongst 68,000 households, over a land area of 15.5 square miles.
Neighborhoods across Alexandria each offer their own distinct character and types of housing. Alongside the Potomac River, the Old Town is home to many historic town houses.
