Springfield
The community of Springfield is located about 13 miles south-west of downtown Washington, DC. It is home to over 30,000 residents, spread across more than 12,000 households, over a land area of 7.9 square miles. A range of housing options are available within Springfield, from condominiums, to townhomes, duplexes, and single family homes.
There are eighteen public elementary schools that serve Springfield, most of which are located within city limits. Grades 7-8 are served by Francis Scott Key and Washington Irving middle schools, and grades 9-12 by the Robert E. Lee High School and West Springfield High School. Northern Virginia Community College's medical campus is also located in Springfield, and offers a variety of certificates and associates degrees.
Public transit facilities serving Springfield include the Fairfax Connector and Metrobus services, Washington Metro's Blue Line at the Franconia-Springfield station, and Backlick Road station on the Manassas VRE line.
